BIOGRAPHY
Lara Stone has been achieving results as
an employee, a board member and a trainer with non-profit management teams for
over 15 years. Her recent work has focused on results-oriented
strategy implementation, leadership teambuilding and employee mentoring. Lara
has worked with non-profit organizations in the U.S. and Canada. She resides in
a historic home in southeastern Massachusetts with her husband and their three
boys.
EXPERIENCE
Prior to becoming an independent
consultant (a Principal with Potentia Consulting), Lara was the
Assistant Director of the Greater New Bedford Workforce Investment Board, Inc.,
a public-private partnership focused on ensuring employers have access to a
skilled and educated workforce.
Preceding this, she served as
Executive Director of Rebuilding Together (Christmas in April), a
nonprofit housing and community rehabilitation organization in Providence, RI.
Lara has a demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships between public and
private sector constituencies, having worked for the Boston Private Industry
Council, the Americorps program, City Year, and
consulting with
the Mayor’s Office in Boston. Lara has been involved in helping organizations
address issues crucial to business
success which has impacted all levels of the organization.
SIGNIFICANT ACHIEVEMENTS Lara’s work has involved:
- Co-designing and implementing continuous quality improvement training;
- Developing a Baldrige performance excellence framework for a multi-pronged organization and region’s strategic planning and business plan design;
- Mentoring leadership and line staff in an organization moving from a non-employee-involvement culture to an employee-driven culture utilizing teams to drive results such as increased customer satisfaction scores, reduced wait time, and improved services;
- Managing 40 corporate and university partnerships, a 2000 volunteer member corps and $1.5 million dollar budget for the local affiliate of a leading volunteer home rehabilitation program in the U.S.
- Directing a model national AmeriCorps program partnering with 14 Public Schools through leading and managing eight staff and 80 corps members between the ages of 17-24.

EDUCATION
Lara holds an MBA in business and social
policy from the Heller School at Brandeis University. Her Bachelor's degree is
from Cornell University in sociology/human ecology.
